If you're a practicing physical therapist or physical therapist assistant in New Jersey, you're required to complete a specific number of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every two years to maintain your license. Physical therapists must complete 30 CEUs, including 4 units focused on jurisprudence and professional ethics, while physical therapist assistants need 20 CEUs with the same 4-unit ethics requirement. New Jersey offers flexibility in obtaining CEUs through in-person workshops, webinars, and distance learning courses, provided they are Board-approved. At least one-third of CEUs must be obtained through live, real-time interactions. Additionally, proof of CEUs is mandatory in case of an audit by the State Board.
